A Day Out to Anstruther

Special Celebration Days in Anstruther

RNLI –  Lifeboat Station Open Day – In the centre of the town you’ll find the RNLI station, which is open all year round. There’s a Gift Shop and Visitor Centre. The RNLI have an annual Open Day with fun events and an opportunity to board the Lifeboat and meet the crew.

Anstruther Harbour Festival – is a fun-filled weekend for all the family. There are lots of different activities planned to interest all ages.  Here’s the historic boat ‘Reaper’ bringing the Fisher Lad and Lass to the Festival.

The Scottish Fisheries Museum

Anstruther is the home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum. You will find the Museum at the east end of Shore Street.The museum is housed in a group of historic building known as St Ayes. At the centre of the building is a courtyard which was previously used to mend fishing nets. The museum house a wide range of artefacts connected with the fishing industry as well as full sized fishing boat. There are activities to keep the kids amused as well as ongoing exhibitions for the adults. See the website for more details.

A Day Out to Anstruther – Fish & Chips

No day trip to Anstruther would be complete without ending the day going for fish and chips. The Anstruther Fish Bar is well known and has won several awards over the last few years. In the summer it gets very busy but don’t let the queue’s put you off. It is worth the wait. Alternatively if you don’t want to wait then the Wee Chippy at the other end of Shore Street does sit in or take away.
