Here are 25 things we have done as a family whilst on holiday at Sandcastle Cottage. There is definitely something for everyone on a holiday in the East Neuk of Fife and St Andrews. As seasoned holidaymakers in the area, there are of course some glaring omissions but we thought the selection might inspire you if you’re considering a break here.
Walk to the shops on your self-catering holiday
The village of Crail is only 10 miles from St Andrews and offers a unique way of shopping which has all but died out in many towns and cities in the UK. This is the way our grandparents used to shop, buying meat from the butcher, bread from the baker, fruit from the greengrocer and fish from the fishmonger. It’s also a chance to meet the locals and find out what is going on in the village during your self-catering holiday.Read more
A holiday in the East Neuk of Fife gives visitors the opportunity to visit the different villages along the coast, and with a base in Crail you have several options for visiting Anstruther. It’s near enough to walk along the coastal path; there is a regular hourly bus service on the Coastliner 95; or you can go by car. Read more
