On the ground floor of Sandcastle Cottage you will find the living area: a living room with comfortable furniture, oak tables, TV and DVD player and a selection of books. There is a pebble and driftwood effect gas fire for chilly evenings, making the cottage a cosy place to visit no matter what the weather outside.
The living area continues with the open-plan kitchen dining room on the ground floor.
The kitchen/dining area has a big pine table to seat all the family and views towards the garden. The kitchen is modern, with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and plenty of kitchen equipment to suit enthusiastic home cooks. You’ll find ample supplies of crockery and cutlery. We like to entertain friends and family while we’re here, so you’ll find more than the average holiday cottage supplies.
We’ve also created a small seating area by the window in the dining room where you can listen to the radio or read newspapers or a book.
With quality food stores in the village only a few minutes walk from the cottage, you may be tempted by all the fresh local food to prepare meals in the kitchen. Fresh Crail Crab can be bought from the harbour and Green’s in the main street. Speciality breads can be bought or ordered from Barnett’s Bakery and there’s a wide range of cakes and pastries. The excellent Penman’s Butcher can supply all types of meat and poultry and has lots of of deli items too. Smoke Fired Whole Foods store has a wide range of coffees, teas and unusual ingredients for you to try. There are two small supermarkets in the village for all other essentials. Also Crail Pharmacy; The Beehive for coffees ices, light snacks and gifts. Browse and buy in Crail Gallery and Crail Pottery, and stop for coffees at Crail Harbour Gallery. If you don’t want to cook the Golf Hotel and Balcomie Hotel are ready to serve you. Or why not try Fish & chips from Crail Fish Bar. All are only a short walk away from Sandcastle Cottage.
Also on the ground floor is the family bathroom, with large bath and over-bath shower. Plenty of hot water as there’s a modern combi boiler, so everyone can have a bath after a long day on the beach!
