Self Catering Cottages & Bed & Breakfast
There is a wide range of accommodation in the East Neuk of Fife from Caravan Parks, Self Catering Cottages of varying sizes, small hotels and bed & breakfast.
From the 1st of October 2023 all Self Catering Cottages and Bed & Breakfast Guest Houses will have to apply for a licence from the local council under an amendment to the Civic Government Scotland Act 1982 in order to continue trading.
All licensees must display their license number on all advertisements and correspondence. A number of safety measures must have been complied with.

Self Catering Accommodation Crail – What Guests need to be aware of
There are a number of third party booking sites and agencies with a large selection of holiday properties in the East Neuk of Fife. Although some third party booking sites and agencies have their own terms which accommodation providers have to comply with, many merely introduce you, the guest, to an accommodation provider (cottage owner or Bed & Breakfast guest house). For that service they charge an introduction fee which in some cases can be up to 25% of the overall rental. In most cases the contract is with you the guest and the establishment owner. So if anything goes wrong some third party booking sites or agencies will not take any responsibility. Read the terms and conditions carefully before booking.
For the best price you should always try to book directly with the accommodation provider. If you find a cottage or B&B which is suitable on a third party booking site or agency site look to see if they have their own website or they are listed on Visit Scotland or Embrace Scotland. Alternatively find a telephone number and phone them directly.
Visitscotland.com or Embrace Scotland do not charge a commission.
Self Catering Accommodation Crail – Visit Scotland Grading Scheme
Look for properties that are members of the Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Scheme or are members of the Association of Scotland’s Self Caterers (ASSC). Those properties have been inspected by an independent Quality Assurance Inspector and have been graded accordingly. The property will also have complied with current safety standards.
Stay at Sandcastle Cottage Crail
Sandcastle Cottage is located at the far end of Nethergate one of the two main streets within the conservation area. Guests are within easy walking distance of Roome Bay Beach, Crail Harbour and Crail Harbour Beach as well as Crail High Street where you will find a range of shops catering for all you need for a weeks self catering.
On the cottage ground floor we have a large kitchen dining area enabling guests to cater for family and friends. Also sitting room and bathroom. On the upper floor there is a large double bedroom with ensuite shower room as well as a bedroom with three single beds. In total we sleep up to five people.
The cottage has a large enclosed private garden and patio area where guests can relax on warm sunny days.
