Thanks to the folks at Welcome to Fife we’ve just received a new set of Scottish Mountain Bike Trails route cards to add to our visitor information at Sandcastle Cottage for families who would like to go cycling during their holiday.
We’ve selected two of the trails which we think will be popular for families visiting Crail, and we’re looking forward to trying these out on our next trip to Sandcastle Cottage.

If you’re bringing bikes on holiday, you’ll find that you can store your cycles to the rear of the property using access via the back gate of the cottage off Kirk Wynd.

We just tried to cycle the Crail to kingsbarns route with my 5 year old on her bike and the 3 year old in a trailer. there is a substantive section on a busy B road with a 60mph limit. We turned back because it felt too risky.
This lady has obviously taken a wrong turning somewhere. The Crail – Kingsbarns Cycleway is along an old railway line. However it is not a route I would attempt with a 3 year old in a trailer.
