One of our favourite Crail walks whilst staying at Sandcastle Cottage is the walk along the coastal path from Roome Bay to West Ness. This walk takes in some of the most visited and much photographed parts of Crail offering superb views across to the Isle of May and Berwick Law.

Pittenweem is the East Neuk of Fife’s only working fish market. Large fishing boats land their catch in the harbour in the early hours of the morning. A day trip to Pittenweem is highly recocommended.
Pittenweem has also become a hub for local artists. Visitors can enjoy regular exhibitions throughout the year.

The best time of year to visit the Isle of May is in spring or early summer. This is a very popular day trip with our guests at Sandcastle Cottage. Boat trips leave from Anstruther harbour either on the May Princess or the fast Osprey Rhib.
